Who we are

The New Brunswick Housing Corporation (NBHC) is currently seeking an individual to join the recently renewed and restructured NBHC under its Infrastructure Division as an Engineer in Fredericton.

NBHC is a Crown Corporation established in 2023, responsible for developing and maintaining provincial housing facilities, programs, initiatives, strategies, and renting services for landlords and tenants. NBHC works with all levels of government, community groups, organizations, and the private sector to identify and maximize housing development opportunities while providing support through a housing strategy to positively impact New Brunswickers.

What you will do

As a member of the Engineering and Construction Branch, the successful candidate will report to the Assistant Director and be responsible for project management across a diverse range of new construction projects. Specific duties include:

  • Development and control of project budgets and schedules.
  • Effectively control project scope to ensure project deliverables are met;
  • Collaborate and liaise with various levels of government entities and internal departments;
  • Engage and supervise private sector consultants and contractors to ensure project objectives are achieved;
  • Provide comprehensive supervision and control of projects throughout all project phases including: planning, design, tendering, contract award, and construction.
  • RFP and tender preparation.
  • Managing consultant and construction contracts.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineer 3: University degree in Engineering and a minimum of eight (8) years of related work experience which includes building design or construction projects. Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
  • Engineer 2: University degree in Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience which includes building design or construction projects. Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English AND French is required for some vacancies while other vacancies require written and spoken competence in French OR English only. Please state your language capability.

Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

  • Working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office location: 551 King Street, Fredericton.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm.
  • Some travel within the province will be required.

Salary:

  • Engineer 3: $2,904.87 to $3,976.01 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
  • Engineer 2: $2,718.60 to $3,632.27 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
