Finance Services Manager
Description
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick (the College) serves and protects the public by regulating the practice of medicine in the province. With over 25 employees, the College is seeking a Finance Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Services Manager manages and assists in performing the delivery of services related to financial management for the College. Below is an outline of key responsibilities:
- Oversight and review of all day-to-day accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, payroll and benefits administration to ensure quality control of accounting operations
- Ensure that all statutory reporting and remittance timelines are met
- Prepare accurate and timely preliminary monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and forecasts
- Participate in the development of the annual budget
- Coordinate the annual external audit process to ensure all reporting timelines are met. Act as main point of contact for external auditors.
- Participate in pension plan administration.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, relevant legislation and internal policies. Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
- Assist in developing, and implementing financial policies, systems and procedures
- Prepare and provide financial analysis, cost-benefit analysis and other financial management reporting, on an as-needed basis
- Assisting in evaluating reporting systems, procedures, and operational activities, providing recommendations for changes
- Identify and report any trends that are critical to the organization's financial performance
- Lead and/or participate in the financial aspects of organizational projects
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience focused on finance and/or accounting in roles with increasing responsibility
- Previous experience supervising employees
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with contract review and reporting for government-funded programs
- Proficiency with AccountEdge or similar accounting software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to prepare complex financial and other planning submissions and proposals that effectively inform high-level decision-making
- Solid written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as outside the organization.
- French language proficiency is an asset.
- A high degree of accuracy and efficiency
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and practices
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to financial data and payroll data.
- Experience in preparing financial reports
- Ability to manage competing priorities and prioritize based on the needs of the organization
