Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Technician, Property Attendants are the face of Build Nova Scotia, working to enhance our properties, marina presentation and cleanliness. This position will assist with special events, providing information to visitors and other duties as required. Property Attendants work to ensure all visitors enjoy a world-class experience each time they visit our properties.
This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and presentation of the Halifax waterfront and other properties as necessary. As front-line staff representing Build Nova Scotia, this position requires individuals with excellent customer service skills. This role works as part of a small team that requires a high level of cooperation and teamwork to ensure key infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards.
- Primarily responsible for the collection of litter and debris as well as the servicing and maintenance of waste receptacles along the Halifax waterfront and potentially other Build Nova Scotia properties.
- Property Attendants may be engaged in landscaping, grass cutting, painting, minor maintenance, pressuring washing and a range of other potential duties.
- This position will report any potential maintenance or safety issues to the waterfront's maintenance team to ensure corrective actions are put in place.
- Support and assist Marina Attendants and Waterfront Ambassadors as may be necessary to support day-to-day operations.
- Must be a student and returning to studies in fall 2026.
- Great interpersonal skills.
- Scheduling flexibility is required, including availability for weekend and evening work.
- Extensive walking and physical labour are parts of this job, both indoors and outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 22kg.
- Valid Driver's License (Class 5) is an asset.
- Experience driving a utility vehicle or golf cart an asset.
- Valid Standard First Aid and WHMIS Certificates are an asset.
- Experience in landscaping, light carpentry, painting and general maintenance are an asset.
- A passion for the waterfront and working hard, rain or shine, is essential.
This opportunity will start early May 2026 with an end date of late August 2026. Casual work shifts may continue into the fall depending on seasonal/operational needs.
The hourly rate of pay varies depending on completed educational level, i.e., high school to masters.

Working Conditions:
Day, evening and weekend shift work is required.
Work is generally conducted outdoors in all weather conditions.
Hours of work generally consists of a maximum of 35 hours per week.
