We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient full-time, permanent eDiscovery Specialist to support our litigation team in managing electronic evidence and document workflows. This role, based in our Halifax office, involves hands-on document processing, collaboration with legal teams, and coordination with vendors to ensure efficient and accurate eDiscovery practices.
The eDiscovery Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Provide full-cycle support for Pleadings, Affidavits of Documents, Discoveries, Trials, and Hearings, including preparation, document production, and attendance as requested.
- Support the e-discovery process, including ESI collection, ingestion, analysis, review, and electronic productions.
- Maintain undertakings, judgments, and file organization, managing deadlines using a bring-forward system.
- Use eDiscovery technology to manage large, document-intensive files efficiently.
- Instruct, coordinate with, and manage external vendors for review projects.
- Provide timelines, updates, and clear communications to legal teams throughout eDiscovery projects.
- Communicate effectively with lawyers, clients, opposing parties, witnesses, and court personnel.
- Contribute to the litigation team through mentorship, training, creative ideas, and knowledge sharing.
The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:
- Legal Assistant or Paralegal diploma; however, we recognize that historical and systemic barriers have shaped and limited access to traditional education, training, and employment pathways. Therefore, we welcome applicants with a combination of skills, knowledge, and lived experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with eDiscovery tools with a strong working knowledge of Relativity, Casepoint, or similar eDiscovery platforms.
- Familiarity with Electronic Discovery Reference Model, Sedona Principles, and applicable Rules of Civil Procedure; Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists qualification is an asset.
- Experience with project management tools and task coordination.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a focus on client service and professionalism.
- Positive, confident, and collaborative, with the ability to work independently while contributing to team success.
