Grants Officers are responsible for managing a portfolio of grant partnerships, supporting effective program outreach and project delivery, monitoring, and compliance. They will work with internal teams to maximize the sustainable outcomes of grant-funded initiatives in impacted communities. Additionally, the Grants Officers will contribute to the development and implementation of granting standards, championing best practices to ensure consistency and effectiveness across the Canadian Red Cross.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of grant partnerships and maintain partner relationships.
  • Support grant partners with project implementation, problem-solving, and reporting.
  • Oversee all stages of grant management, including partner validation, application assessment, contract drafting, approvals, and monitoring.
  • Support grant program launch, orientation, and implementation.
  • Ensure quality control and monitoring of assigned grant programs.
  • Collaborate with program teams to address challenges and align solutions with grant partner needs.
  • Maintain tracking tools and project files to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Ensure grant lifecycle compliance with policies and guidelines, recommending process enhancements.

What we look for:

  • Qualifications include a minimum of 4-5 years' experience and a 1-2 year post-secondary certification/diploma and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in grants and/or program administration and monitoring of programs and projects.
  • The ideal candidate has lived and/or has professional experience with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis Nations or communities.
  • Active in broader Indigenous networks and has an enduring commitment to sharing and advancing knowledge derived through Indigenous knowledge systems including balancing Western and Indigenous world views.
  • Communication skills, diplomacy and empathy to interpret information and deliver advice, clarify client or stakeholder needs, offer solutions, and resolve escalations in new or somewhat sensitive situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple grants simultaneously, track deadlines, and ensure successful program implementation.
  • Ability to ensure accuracy in grant proposals/applications, financial reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint and database management tools.
  • Written and oral communication skills in English is required; French is considered a strong asset.

Working conditions:

  • The majority of the work is performed in an office or home environment.
  • Some work may be performed in an environment which may have varying degrees of impact from the disaster or emergency situation.
  • Work requires the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Requirement to travel within Canada.
  • A valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory drivers' abstract.
