Senior Accountant

Corey Nutrition Company is a family-owned manufacturer based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We manufacture high quality pet food, including Inukshuk Professional Dog Food, and ship to over a dozen countries around the world.

We are currently looking for a full-time employee to join our accounting team as a Senior Accountant. This position is based out of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of the accounting team. We are searching for a hands-on, experienced accountant who will strive to contribute to our continued growth and success.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assist with the monthly preparation of journal entries and financial statements
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations
• Review documentation for accuracy, including customer invoices
• Prepare internal financial reports
• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR and Payroll
• Prepare and file monthly HST and PST returns
• Assist with US Sales tax compliance, including managing exemption certificates
• Back up for payroll processing, including remittance of source deductions, ROEs, T4s, etc.
• Assist with Inventory control and reconciliation with production
• Assist with benchmarking and data analysis
• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements
• Support the Controller in ensuring all accounting transactions, schedules and analysis are produced on time and in accordance with company policy
• Other duties as required

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
• CPA designation considered an asset
• Minimum 2 years related experience in a similar role
• Managerial or supervisory experience considered an asset
• Experience in the manufacturing industry considered an asset
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organization skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Solid work ethic
• Positive attitude
• Understanding of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Experience with Syspro (or similar ERP) considered an asset
• Written and spoken competence in English is required

Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick
