Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a key member of the Platform team, you will work cross-functionally to support the RBCx tech banking practice's engagement goals. Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will work closely with the regional banking Directors and other senior stakeholders to accelerate visibility, awareness, and deepen relationships with existing clients, prospects and ecosystem leaders.

Responsibilities will include developing and implementing the events and sponsorship strategy for the BC, Quebec and Atlantic Canada regions to enable sales activities and ecosystem presence.

The successful candidate will be highly-organized with a background in event planning and execution and good knowledge of the Canadian tech ecosystem.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Marketing Communications

  • Enable the RBCx banking team by proactively identifying opportunities to engage with clients and prospects through ecosystem activities.
  • Facilitate speaking engagements and other profile opportunities for select RBCx leaders.
  • Create event graphics and communications materials.
  • Collaborate with the Design team to develop branded items.
  • Facilitate content creation coming out of events, speaking engagements, etc.

Events

  • End-to-end management of branded events with tasks including but not limited to vendor management, budgeting, venue sourcing and booking, and coordinating with external partners.
  • Closely collaborate across the Banking and Platform teams including Design and Strategy, Marketing, Growth Operations and Corporate Communications, to ensure alignment with RBCx's business goals.
  • Oversee on-site event operations as required including setup, registration, and volunteer management.

Partnerships

  • Leverage your existing network and build new relationships with leaders in the Canadian tech ecosystem, identifying opportunities for partnership that deliver mutual value.
  • Manage existing sponsorships, to ensure contracts are being fulfilled and provide recommendations on sponsorship renewals.
  • Negotiate and finalize new sponsorships, creating and executing contacts and tracking deliverables.

Management & Admin

  • Keep diligent records such as updating and maintaining databases and measuring ROI.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

  • 3+ years in event management, preferably in an incubator or accelerator environment.
  • Good knowledge of the Canadian tech ecosystem, key organizations and leaders.
  • Experience supporting a sales function or direct experience in a sales role.
  • Experience curating and hosting a breadth of online, in-person and hybrid events.
  • Highly organized with an ability to navigate competing initiatives and priorities, both strategic and day-to-day.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • French language proficiency is considered an asset.

This role is located in Toronto, Ontario with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days (subject to change).
