Acadia seeks an Accounts Payable Clerk in the Financial Services Department to process payments to vendors, students, faculty, and staff in an accurate and timely manner. This requires attention to payment terms and discounts while ensuring that departmental approvals have been obtained and university policies are followed.
Specific responsibilities include:
- post invoices in a timely manner
- communicate with suppliers and employees regarding outstanding payables or payment discrepancies
- process weekly cheque runs
- file invoices, journal entries and other purchase documents
- post journal entries
- sort office mail
- We are seeking a candidate who is comfortably working in a team environment where assignments and processes are closely integrated with the work of others.
- Completion of a post-secondary program with concentration in accounting/business preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of computerized accounting systems as well as MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately enter a large volume of data. This requires an individual who is skilled at organizing and prioritizing their work.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented approach are required.
- Applicants must be available to work additional hours at peak processing times throughout the year, such as year-end.
- Familiarity with Acadia's financial software and administrative policies would be an asset.
