UFred is looking for a Manager of Technology to lead and continuously improve our core platforms - including Moodle, Microsoft 365, and Salesforce - while supporting students, faculty, and staff with reliable, secure, and user-friendly technology. This is a player-coach role for someone who wants to stay hands-on with systems while also developing their leadership skills and making a broader impact across the organization.

Technology Operations & Platform Ownership
- Own the day-to-day operations and long-term roadmap for Moodle, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and surrounding integrations.]
- Plan and execute system upgrades, maintenance, and change management with minimal disruption.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability, using alerts, metrics, and proactive improvements.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, configuration, and issue resolution as needed.
- Identify and deliver continuous improvements that enhance reliability, security, and user experience.
Security, Risk & Reliability
• Own cybersecurity practices across systems, including identity and access management, MFA, conditional access, and least privilege.
• Maintain secure configurations, patching practices, vulnerability management, backups, and recovery procedures.
• Coordinate incident response for security and service disruptions.
• Stay informed on emerging risks and advise leadership on appropriate safeguards.
• Support compliance with privacy, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
Reporting & Data Insights
• Own reporting and analytics for Salesforce and Moodle.
• Build dashboards, scheduled reports, and data extracts that support operational and leadership decision-making.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into meaningful insights.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Lead the student-facing helpdesk to deliver consistent, friendly, and effective support.
• Act as an escalation point for complex issues.
• Recruit, coach, and support team members, fostering a culture of accountability and learning.
• Set goals, provide feedback, and support professional growth.
• Collaborate closely with academic and administrative teams to ensure technology decisions support teaching, learning, and student experience priorities.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Salesforce Administrator, ITIL, Security+) are considered assets.
Experience
• 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a related field.
• 2+ years in a team lead, senior, or management capacity (formal or informal).
• Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Salesforce in a production environment (Moodle experience is an asset).
• Experience supporting or running a helpdesk or service desk environment.
• Experience with identity and access management, SSO, and directory services.
• Experience planning and executing upgrades, migrations, and change initiatives.
• Experience building operational or executive-level reporting and dashboards.
Skills
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities.
• Ability to communicate technical risks and trade-offs in clear, practical language to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Vendor and stakeholder relationship management.
• Project coordination across cross-functional initiatives.
• Coaching, feedback, and team development skills.
• Commitment to quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Hours of Work
This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours per week) under regular business hours. The position is based in Fredericton, NB, with the option to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick and attend in-person meetings as required. The ideal candidate resides in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
Occasional after-hours work may be required for planned maintenance or rare incident response.
