JOB SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health, Safety and Disability, the Regional Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator coordinates occupational health and safety program processes to support the team responsible in maintaining compliance, mitigating and managing health and safety risks, and continuously improving related practices.

The incumbent actively participates in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of various occupational health and safety promotion and prevention activities, with the aim of fostering a healthy organizational culture in these areas. They promote awareness of and compliance with applicable occupational health and safety (OHS) laws and regulations, support the implementation of preventive measures and promote continuous improvement.

The coordinator ensures the planning, organization and implementation of occupational health and safety measures, as well as the application of occupational health and safety standards and regulations in Vitalité Health Network facilities. They act as a consultant to the occupational health and safety advisors in the various regions, as well as to the various joint occupational health and safety committees. In this capacity, they suggest initiatives and make recommendations to support the application of existing laws and regulations. They also ensure the training of the occupational health and safety team on various aspects of occupational health and safety.

The incumbent is responsible for the management and strategic direction of training related to the prevention program, health program, respiratory protection program and hygiene program. They ensure that the organization is compliant with applicable laws and regulations. If necessary, they can represent the employer before the New Brunswick Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal (WCAT) or during workplace investigations. They provide a support service to department heads regarding disciplinary measures and conflict situations in their departments related to occupational health and safety.

All these duties are performed in collaboration with the occupational health, safety and disability team, human resources, managers, as well as stakeholders and organizations involved in maintaining and developing the work capacities of Vitalité Health Network employees. Other related duties may be added for the smooth operation of human resources.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Recognized degree in the occupational health and safety field;
  • Combination of training and experience deemed equivalent;
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in the occupational health and safety field;
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations;
  • Working knowledge of the principles of hazard and risk management associated with occupational health and safety or knowledge acquired as part of a training program;
  • Keen organizational skills, excellent communication skills and proven interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment, characterized by high pressure and tight deadlines;
  • Proven teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
