The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is seeking a collaborative network builder, inclusive leader, and policy expert passionate about New Brunswickers' wellbeing to direct early childhood excellence-bridging programs, schools, and communities while advancing equity, inclusion, and seamless learning transitions under the Regional Early Childhood Services.

The Early Childhood Development Division is responsible to ensure the bridging of early childhood services (public, community and private services) and school services to build a continuum of learning from birth to high school graduation. Early childhood programs and services have been aligned with the seven school districts, both geographically and linguistically.

What will you do:
Under the direction of the Assistant Deputy Minister of Early Childhood Development, the Early Childhood Development Division within Anglophone Schools (covering Moncton, Shediac, Sackville, Hillsborough, Alma, Salisbury and Petitcodiac) drives district-wide excellence in early learning and family services.

The Regional Director of Early Childhood services leads a team with strategic oversight, steering early learning and family services toward excellence while fostering partnerships with stakeholders, with a vital emphasis on building and maintaining strong relationships specifically with the early learning and childcare sector, responding to children's and families' needs, and driving continuous quality improvement. This role develops relationships across EECD, school districts, and community sectors-prioritizing deep, collaborative ties with early learning and childcare partners to ensure seamless service integration and access-implements provincial and local strategies, manages budgets and resources in compliance with regulations, addresses local access challenges, mitigates risks, and builds integrated systems for holistic child development from birth to age eight.
Strong leadership, communication, financial acumen, and expertise in early learning best practices are essential to guide teams, monitor outcomes through data-driven dashboards, and ensure seamless transitions to school.

The major responsibilities of the position are:

Strategic Relationships
Develop relationships with EECD leaders, school districts, government departments, service providers, and community partners serving children aged 0-8; mobilize public, private, and community sectors.

Provincial Strategies
Identify priorities for accessibility, affordability, quality, and inclusion; collaborate on provincial strategies; oversee local implementation with metrics.

Financial Oversight and Reporting
Manage annual budgets, allocate funds, monitor compliance with Procurement Act and regulations, report sector data to governments, and advocate for resources.

Local Challenges
Identify access barriers to quality services; develop strategies; mitigate risks and resolve complex situations.

Continuous Improvement
Build school district partnerships and foster a data-driven quality culture via dashboards and best practices.

Leadership
Coach teams through Performance Agreements, set priorities, measure outcomes; serve on ECD and district management teams.

Communications
Translate organizational changes and strategies into practical goals to build trust and drive change; foster connection and engagement by addressing current realities; contribute to communication and change management plans with key messaging and tactics.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related discipline, including a minimum of three (3) years of management and supervision with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in delivering significant social programs in a community setting, budget management, extensive leadership, relationship and team building, plus demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and learning programs and services; or
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related discipline including a minimum of three (3) years of management and supervision with at least nine (9) years of related experience in delivering significant social programs in a community setting, budget management, extensive leadership, relationship and team building, plus demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and learning programs and services.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
Pay Band 7 - $93,210 - $112,788 annually.
Work environment:

  • Office location: Greater Moncton Area.

  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
  • Evening and Saturday availability sometimes required
