The Greater Moncton Wastewater Commission is an equal opportunity Employer that currently has a vacancy for an Industrial Mechanic position to begin full time employment on March 2, 2026.
Job Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations while working with other Plant maintenance and electrical personnel and the management team, the Industrial Mechanic position is responsible for the predictive and preventive maintenance and repairs of all plant and compost facility mechanical equipment.
This position, as does all team members, carries with it a responsibility to nurture, promote and champion TransAqua's safety program.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain schedule of preventive maintenance and carry out work as scheduled;
- Post major maintenance projects, repair activities that are ongoing and equipment that is locked-out on the Mechanical maintenance board and/or in the automated maintenance system;
- Review maintenance schedule, construction or special projects activities with the Director of Operations and other mechanical maintenance personnel on a weekly basis;
- Set-up spare parts areas and ensure list of parts are updated monthly. Order part/components to ensure critical pieces are on hand at all times;
- Set-up & maintain proper maintenance manuals for new & existing equipment within TransAqua;
- Responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the remote pumping lift stations;
- Carry out repairs or emergency repairs when needed. It is understood that critical repairs have priority over preventive maintenance;
- Oversee work by local contractors hired to carry out work for TransAqua. Review daily timesheets and material usage and confirm;
- Assist operators in procedures in preparation for regular maintenance or repairs.
Working Conditions:
TransAqua offers the following working conditions and benefits:
- Employees are required to work an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm with scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
- At times incumbents perform strenuous physical labour for extended periods of time requiring physical strength and endurance.
- Other working conditions include lifting heavy loads, performing tasks in high or confined areas, moving on rough or unsteady surfaces, and making repetitive movements such as bending or lifting.
- Employees are exposed to a variety of weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow and extremes of heat and cold), construction sites, heavy traffic, vibration, noise, dust, chemicals, a variety of construction materials, paint, grease, oil, noxious odours, fumes and potentially hazardous materials.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications:
The preferred candidate:
- Red Seal Industrial Mechanic Certification / License in NB or Interprovincial;
- Minimum five (5) years of related industrial workplace experience.
The following certifications are considered to be an asset:
- Emergency First Aid / CPR - Certification;
- Confined Space Entry Certification;
- WHIMS Certification;
- Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification Level I;
- Wastewater Collection Operator Certification Level I;
- Fall Arrest Certification and
- Bilingual - French/English.
