The University of Fredericton (UFred) is seeking a Creative Manager to lead and execute our strategic creative and visual identity vision. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategic thinking and hands-on design.

As our creative lead and champion, you will bring UFred's brand to life through creative strategy and execution, ensuring every campaign and piece of content feels unmistakably UFred while advancing our goals as an institution. You'll lead the charge in producing compelling, high-impact visuals and storytelling that drive engagement, strengthen our brand, and elevate the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

Brand and Creative Leadership & Execution

  • Lead UFred's creative strategy and visual identity, ensuring our campaigns and content are consistent, high quality, and aligned with our institutional goals.
  • Work closely with our Story Strategist, Content and Engagement Strategist and Digital Experience Strategist to develop creative that is aligned, compelling, and on brand across all channels, platforms and initiatives.
  • Enhance marketing assets in collaboration with key stakeholders to assess needs and opportunities.
  • Develop and evolve creative assets, templates, and toolkits that enable internal teams and external partners to deliver high quality, on brand work.
  • Stay current with creative trends and best practices, applying them to advance and evolve creative execution.

Campaign Strategy and Asset Development

  • Play an active role in campaign strategy development, bringing creative leadership and ensuring alignment between campaign objectives and creative delivery.
  • Lead the development of campaign assets across multiple platforms (e.g., digital, print, video, social media) to support marketing initiatives and drive engagement.
  • Optimize creative assets across the full student journey to advance awareness, recruitment, engagement, and retention goals.
  • Lead creative strategy and execution for new academic program launches, working closely with marketing leadership to ensure strong positioning and storytelling.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Work

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal marketing team members, external partners, and university stakeholders to deliver high-quality creative output.
  • Actively lead and manage relationships with third-party agencies to ensure alignment with creative and goals.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Multimedia Design, Advertising, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in creative leadership, graphic design, motion design, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both creative strategy and hands-on execution.
  • Experience with web design and digital content creation.
  • Hands-on expertise in multimedia production, including video editing, motion graphics, and interactive storytelling (preferred).
  • Experience in brand and creative strategy to align visual identity, messaging, and institutional goals (preferred).

Skills

  • Proficiency in Figma for design and prototyping, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other relevant design and multimedia tools.
  • Strong copywriting skills for marketing and advertising purposes.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing best practices, including social media, email marketing, and advertising platforms, with a strategic approach to content creation (preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours. The position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick, and attend in-office meetings, as required. The ideal candidate should reside in New Brunswick or be willing to relocate.
