The Department of Health has a part-time opening for a Pharmacist within the Public Health Branch in Saint John.
As the Pharmacist, you will ensure the safe storage, handling, and timely delivery of vaccines across the province, in alignment with public health standards and national immunization program requirements. Specifically, this position will:
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on cold chain protocols and update current cold chain management processes;
- Oversee the storage and distribution of vaccines in accordance with the New Brunswick Immunization Guide (NBIPG);
- Respond to cold chain excursions;
- Implement use of new Cr?do™ for vaccine distribution;
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with standards and best practices;
- Utilize inventory management systems to ensure accurate tracking of publicly funded vaccines and distribution history;
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to project vaccine demand;
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in inventory workflows, then recommend and implement process enhancements to optimize inventory management and reporting capabilities;
- Prepare inventory reports and participate in internal and external audits as required;
- Develop/maintain SOPs to guide operations and support staff training;
- Provide SME advice and guidance to staff on-site at the Central Serum Depot, and provide staff training on new cold chain products (i.e., Cr?do™ products);
- Support and educate partners on identifying and managing cold chain excursions;
- Answer questions from partners related to eligibility and the NBIPG;
- Provide clinical guidance on vaccine stability/use;
- Collaborate with stakeholders on logistics, problem-solving, and resource sharing;
- Gather feedback from stakeholders to identify challenges/opportunities for enhancing cold chain management.
- Perform various other duties as required.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy, and
- Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in pharmacy practice.
- Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.
Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Experience in public health, vaccine management, or pharmaceutical logistics.
- Experience training staff and/or clients on technical processes.
Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications, in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $2,339 to $2,574 bi-weekly
