Faculty of Law: UNB Legal Clinic

The UNB Legal Clinic is a new experiential learning course of the Faculty of Law. It provides legal practice experience to students under the direct supervision of a lawyer and improves access to justice in New Brunswick. The UNB Legal Clinic offers legal services in housing, employment and social benefits. Contrary to other courses, the UNB Legal Clinic will be open year-round.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 5-Year Term | Fredericton | In-person

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel throughout the province.
  • Must possess a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Salary Range: $49,410 - $61,768 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of the Legal Clinic, the Client Development & Community Outreach Coordinator seeks out and creates partnerships with potential like-minded partners and stakeholders who will provide client referrals. The position acts as a liaison between the Legal Clinic and the partners to facilitate access to justice for low-income individuals throughout New Brunswick.

  • Design, develop, and implement strategies, materials, and activities that promote the clinic.
  • Promote the services of the UNB Legal Clinic through various advertising strategies.
  • Build partnerships between the UNB Legal Clinic and key stakeholders throughout the province.
  • Develop and negotiate Partnership agreements.
  • Recruit and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Create and organize "pop-up" clinics around the province to help communities understand the clinic's offerings and ensure access to the service throughout the province.
  • Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
  • Prepare an annual budget for community outreach activities.
  • Create and maintain a database of potential partners throughout the province.
  • Arrange speaking and other events for Clinic Lawyers and law students and book travel.
  • Prepare accurate records and reports on the goals of the clinic.
  • Track statistics on the use of the clinic.
  • Assist the Administrative Assistant as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary diploma in a related field.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in outreach capacity and building relationships.

  • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact face-to-face with individuals and stakeholders.
  • Ability to address a wide variety of audiences.
  • Understanding of the importance of client confidentiality and solicitor-client privilege
  • Ability to work with diverse communities, with clients having a wide range of personal and socio-economic circumstances and be familiar with cultural competence and trauma-informed practices.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.
