The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Technical Leader, Strategy to join our Coporate Strategy team in Toronto.

The role is a permanent hybrid position. This posting is for an existing position vacancy.

As a Technical Leader, Strategy you will support critical parts of the strategy, strategic planning cycle, act as a Project Manager on cross-functional initiatives, lead and structure critical business analysis required to support the team and the Vale Base Metals leadership team, and/or provide any other support to execute upon the team's accountabilities.

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Lead the development of specific elements of the company's portfolio strategy (buy, sell, build, partner) including desired commodity portfolio, scenarios for industry evolution, desired focused by stage of the value chain and asset maturity, preferred geographic and mineralization styles and other strategic options
• Support the Vale Base Metals strategic planning cycle
• Develop materials outlining the Vale Base Metals' strategy and ensure consistent narrative is cascaded
• Support strategic and technical rational for key business decisions including detailed option analysis
• Develop, maintain and evaluate appropriate models (activity based costing, NPV by value chain, etc.)
• Develop and communicate long-term business goals and targets
• Identify and execute on corporate development opportunities and participate on due diligence teams, as required.

• Consider opportunities in existing as well as new businesses (i.e. commodities and regions)
• Develop competitive intelligence and provide an external perspective on operations
• Support the construction of internal and external strategy presentations

About You

Education:

• An undergraduate degree in Finance or Technical/Engineering
• P.Eng/MBA/CFA preferred

Experience:

• A minimum of 8 – 10 years' relevant experience

Skills:

• Knowledge of Metals Markets (pricing, attractiveness, major players, etc.)
• Technical knowledge of mining and processing (ability to challenge technical teams on their assessment)
• Business & financial leadership, including extensive business analysis capabilities
• Communication skills to manage cross-functional teams and build presentations.
• Collaboration and strong relationship building skills

Pay Grade: GRF

Minimum Starting Salary: $140,000
