About the Role:
The Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist is responsible to perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests in a core lab and routine radiology procedures. These would include operating stationary equipment in the Diagnostic Imaging Department, preparing patients for examination, checking and maintaining x-ray equipment, performing phlebotomy when required, running Quality Control following established procedures and keeping appropriate documentation; performing routine preventative maintenance procedures on various laboratory instruments and keeping appropriate documentation. Performs other related duties as required. The candidate promotes Patient Safety initiatives through strict application of NLHS policies.
Job Qualifications:
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical
Laboratory Technology or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science supplemented
by the successful completion of a Diagnostic Imaging Skills Program.
Current registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals as a General
MLT is also required.
Effective May 1, 2025, all Medical Radiation Technologists and X - Ray Health Professionals will require registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP) in the appropriate discipline(s) in order to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador.
