NBCC is seeking a casual Writing Tutor to join our Fredericton campus on a temporary, part-time basis. The hours will vary weekly based on student demand and course schedules. The successful candidate will provide writing support to students across all academic departments, including business, health, social sciences, and technical programs.

Rate of Pay: $21.00/hour
Key responsibilities include:
- Support all aspects of student writing needs including:
- Essay structure and argument development, research papers and literature reviews.
- Grammar and clarity.
- Citation styles.
- Editing and proofreading.
- Provide a flexible hourly schedule in advance, and available to support students both virtually and in person at the Fredericton campus.
- Explain writing concepts effectively, and provide guidance on effective writing approaches or techniques.
- Work comfortably with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying skill sets.
- Familiarize with NBCC Library resources and consult regularly with Library and/or faculty staff to ensure guidance is relevant and aligned with course objectives.
- Demonstrate patience and positive attitude in establishing an encouraging and welcoming learning environment.
- Provide effective student feedback to promote success.
Required qualifications for this opportunity include a minimum of 2 years post-secondary education, and 2 years relevant coaching or tutoring experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong writing acumen (sample writing may be requested), and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion to help others learn. Experience with accessibility services and direct writing tutoring experience would be an asset.
Written and spoken competence in English is required.
Candidates must supply a clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check prior to commencing tutoring with students.
Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working as a tutor, or similar position, in a post-secondary environment.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.
The schedule is flexible and based on student need. The salary is $21 per hour.
