Technician, Construction & Maintenance - Eastward Energy, Dartmouth

What You Will Do:

As a Technician, Construction & Maintenance, you will play an essential role within our Construction team, reporting to the Supervisor, Crew. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • The installation of natural gas polyethylene (PE) gas mains and services. Perform various construction related activities to support this work including labour, excavation, trenching, backfilling, PE fusing, PE squeezing, and site restoration while maintaining a clean and safe work site.
  • Assist with system commissioning, system maintenance activities, and responding to emergency calls as required.
  • Load, unload, and transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Ensuring work is performed in accordance with Eastward Energy specifications, safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately complete and maintain required documentation, records, and reports relating to construction activities such as as-builts, pressure tests, and material tracking.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

This position has the following occupational requirements:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and at multiple job sites within the natural gas franchise areas. Position requires occasional overtime or weekend work.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and construction safety training (e.g. WHMIS, First Aid).
  • Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License.

To excel in this position, we recommend that candidates have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and follow instructions as part of a team in field-based environment.
  • Previous experience in civil construction, utility, or natural gas distribution is an asset.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training and career development.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong commitment to safety and following established procedures.
