The Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick is looking for an energetic, people-focused Human Resources Officer to join our Finance and Human Resources team for a one-year term. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise in a role that directly supports the work of our elected representatives and the teams who serve them.
As part of our Finance and Human Resources team, you'll play a key role in delivering essential HR services to Members of the Legislative Assembly, the Offices of the Legislative Assembly, and Legislative Officers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing general human resources support to clients including interpretation of policies and providing recommendations
- Participating in various aspects of recruitment and onboarding, including preparing job advertisements, interviewing candidates, conducting references, and providing HR/Benefits orientations to new employees
- Supporting the coordination of the Co-op, Tour Guide and Page programs, including assisting with recruitment and onboarding activities.
- Communicating with and responding to inquiries from Members of the Legislative Assembly, employees, departments, and external agencies
- Coordinating employee wellness sessions and social activities to promote employee engagement and well-being
- Preparing a monthly HR newsletter for staff to communicate key information and updates.
Essential Qualifications
A university degree in a related field and a minimum of four (4) years of related human resources work experience. Candidates must possess knowledge of human resource related legislation, policies and procedures.
Subject to the response of this competition, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be adjusted.
Written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to those candidates who demonstrate the following:
- A recognized Human Resources designation, diploma or certificate
- Advanced experience with Canva
- Advanced experience with Adobe Standard

Work Environment

- Office Location: Jewett House, 96 Secretary Lane, Fredericton, NB
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday 8:15-4:30
Salary: Pay band 4: $58,474 to $81,770 annually, depending on education and experience.
