Director of Finance
Nanoptix is currently seeking a Director of Finance to lead our financial operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. Based in Dieppe, New Brunswick, this role reports directly to the CEO and works closely on operational issues to drive business performance and financial accountability.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Serve as a member of the leadership team and contribute to strategic initiatives, operating models, and execution.
- Advise management on the financial implications of business activities.
- Represent the company to financial partners, including institutions, investors, private equity partners, executives, and auditors.
- Play a key role in board meeting financial reviews, including preparation of board materials.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and accruals.
- Support and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Manage treasury operations, including daily and weekly cash reporting and reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger and accounting entries.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations, including payroll accuracy, tax withholdings, and regulatory filings.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including analysis and supporting data.
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasted consolidated balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive reports and proper records.
- Oversee inventory accounting processes, including valuation, cost analysis, and reconciliations.
- Maintain cost accounting procedures to track and allocate costs, analyze variances, and support pricing and margin decisions.
- Implement documented accounting policies and procedures with effective internal controls.
- Calculate budget variances and report significant issues to management.
- Manage loan payments, monitor provisions, and ensure compliance with debt covenants.
- Oversee tax filings and financial audits, including HST/GST remittances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation required.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting management.
- Syspro experience considered an asset.
- HR management experience considered an asset.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- English proficiency required.
- High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and manage at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; sound judgment and decision-making based on timely, accurate analysis.
- Results-oriented; committed to developing, mentoring, and managing finance teams.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity and discretion.
