We are currently seeking an experienced Crew Chief to join our growing team.
The Role
As Crew Chief you will lead day-to-day field operations of a survey crew and supervise junior field staff. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on field execution, quality control, and crew development.
The Crew Chief plays a key role in ensuring that field data is complete, reliable, and ready for office processing and professional review. This role is well suited to an experienced field professional who takes pride in doing things properly, understands how field data flows into office calculations, and supports the efficient delivery of survey projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a survey field crew on a variety of projects across all business lines
Direct and mentor junior field staff
Perform RTK GNSS and robotic total station surveys
Establish and maintain site survey control networks and benchmarks
Plan and execute drone flights for aerial data collection (photogrammetry and LiDAR workflows)
Ensure field data packages are complete to project specification and internal standards
Conduct daily job-site hazard assessments and ensure adherence to established safety procedures by all crew members
Maintain survey vehicles, tools, and instruments, including calibration of survey equipment and inspection of PPE
Act as the first point of contact for routine field issues, escalating matters as appropriate
Communicate professionally with landowners, project team members, and the public
Coordinate with the Operations Supervisor - Field Services regarding scheduling, resources, logistics, and project requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3 years of field surveying experience (crew leadership experience preferred)
Possess a strong understanding of surveying principles and methodologies, including working knowledge of both GNSS and robotic total station surveys
Ability to lead a survey field crew
Understanding of industry safety protocols
Keen attention to detail and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and project specifications
Ability to communicate effectively, remain organized, and overcome challenges in the field
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
Valid driver's licence
CAD experience is an asset
Drone experience is an asset
Surveying or geomatics credential from a recognized technical program is an asset
ATV, snowmobile, and chainsaw experience are all assets
