Medavie Health Services West (MHS West) Shamrock proudly provides emergency and medical services in Wadena, Wynyard, Foam Lake and Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. Shamrock is responsible for delivering innovative EMS solutions focused on bringing high-quality care to patients when and where they need it. Since 1978, the team has grown to serve the individual communities by offering basic and advanced life support service delivery.

Shamrock, nestled into the heart of the Saskatchewan prairie landscape halfway between Saskatoon and Yorkton. With busy lake communities nearby at Quill Lake, Fishing Lake and Barrier Lakes, lake life joins a mixed agricultural community providing a relaxed rural experience with many amenities. As a whole, Shamrock's call volume is 2500 annually, and the service has a peak catchment of 30,000.

As an employee of Medavie Health Services, we are accountable to our patients and coworkers by participating in and supporting all safety related initiatives, as well as acting in a manner that fosters a culture that focuses on patient safety and a safe and respectful workplace.

The position entails, but is not limited to the following:

  • Independent advance clinical care.
  • Safe transportation of individuals, including emergency and non-emergency responses, as well as inter-facility transfers.
  • Maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.
  • Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP), the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics registration requirements and Medavie Health Services West policies, procedures and protocols.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have:

  • Must be a registered PCP with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Must submit with resume a copy (front and back) of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
  • Must submit with resume current ITLS and CPR C certification for Health Care Providers.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 60 days) valid and clean criminal record check along with a vulnerable sector check.
  • Must submit with resume a current (within last 30 days) driver's abstract.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record.
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Must have excellent work habits and exhibit professionalism.
