Hours: Your hours of work will follow the flexible work schedule in accordance with Article 19.01(a) of the NAPE-HP Collective Agreement, based on 0-150 hours within a designated 4-week period (by mutual agreement).

Job Summary
The Social Worker will be responsible for providing professional Social Work services pursuant to the Adult Protection Act (APA). This will involve, but is not limited to, the timely completion of APA Evaluations and Investigations, the coordination of Interdisciplinary Capacity Assessments and the assessment of capacity from a social work perspective. This position will also require the provision of support for adults under court orders pursuant to the Adult Protection Act. This position requires exceptional interview and investigative skills, and superior formal report writing and time management skills. The position will involve the preparation of court documents and participation in the court process as affiant and witness as needed.
While the primary focus of this position is Adult Protection the successful incumbent may be required to complete other related duties as assigned.
The Social Worker will also be expected to provide field instruction for Social Work students.
Travel within the Eastern Urban Zone will be required.
This position reports to the Division Manager for Adult Protection and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Social Work for professional integrity and practice issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an accredited Bachelor of Social Work Degree is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers is required.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act.
Knowledge of community resources, systems and programs.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
Knowledge of case management.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor students.
Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and interventions with individuals, families and groups.
Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
