Registered Nurse - Allergy Clinic
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join our Allergy Office team. In this outpatient setting, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while working closely with physicians and fellow clinic staff. From allergy testing to patient education, your expertise will help ensure a smooth clinic experience and excellent clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinic Nurse, you will provide direct patient care and support daily clinic operations, including:
- Performing allergy testing, including:
- Skin prick testing (environmental and food allergens)
- Oral challenges (food and medications)
- Early oral immunotherapy and food ladders
- Allergy injections (immunotherapy)
- Explaining procedures clearly to patients and obtaining informed consent
- Educating patients on medications, treatments, and allergen avoidance strategies
- Administering allergy immunotherapy and closely monitoring patients for adverse reactions
- Responding calmly and effectively to allergic reactions or anaphylaxis using established emergency protocols
- Managing patient flow to ensure timely and efficient clinic visits
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient charts and documentation
- Ensuring exam rooms and testing areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked
- Monitoring medical supplies and coordinating orders as needed
- Restocking patient education materials and clinic handouts
- Assisting physicians with follow-up phone calls and patient communication
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent patient service and education abilities
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations
- Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology
- Bilingual (English/French) with an intermediate level of French is an asset
- Candidates should be flexible; clinic days will be scheduled in advance but may vary by day of the week (clinic days are typically Tuesday and Thursday, with a varying third day).
Work Environment
- Outpatient allergy clinic
- Part time schedule: 0.5-0.6 FTE
- Supportive, collaborative team environment with physicians and administrative staff
