Saint John Energy is inviting applications for the role of "Data Analyst" until 12:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026.

As a Data Analyst, you will build on our existing data infrastructure while excelling in leveraging data and harnessing the power of BI and AI tools to deliver tangible business value. You will play a key role in supporting, optimizing, and improving the self-service capabilities of our data systems. Collaborating with stakeholders across Saint John Energy, you'll analyze complex datasets, develop insightful dashboards and reports, and ensure that data is accessible and actionable for informed decision-making.

You will be involved in a diverse, high profile and impactful program that will be enable Saint John Energy to meet its vision of reaching Net Zero, as well as other process improvement and technology modernization initiatives. This role will involve working closely with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders and requires the ability to work at both a technical and big-picture level.

Duties

  • Build strong working relationships with business users and leadership teams
  • Understand key business data and data quality. Treating data as an asset
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of BI tools, systems, and dashboards.
  • Lead efforts to standardize reporting and analytical tools across the organization to ensure consistency and adoption.
  • Collaborate with Analysts to develop, implement, and optimize data architectures that enhance self-service BI capabilities and support accurate reporting.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple sources for reporting, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Create and manage data models to support efficient querying, analytics, and reporting.
  • Improve and maintain data governance practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across systems.
  • Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI to provide actionable insights to business teams.
  • Apply AI-enabled analytics (e.g., anomaly detection, predictive insights, trend analysis) to enhance reporting, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
  • Leverage AI features within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI to accelerate data preparation, analysis, and insight generation.
  • Identify and support high-value AI and advanced analytics use cases aligned with Net Zero, grid modernization, and customer outcomes.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics needs, ensuring data is structured properly for use by BI tools.
  • Optimize database performance and troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring fast, efficient querying and reporting processes.
  • Analyze legacy reports, understand data structures, and redesign them using Power BI capabilities
  • Work with IT teams to implement robust security protocols for BI tools and ensure controlled access to sensitive information.

Employment Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science) or equivalent practical experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with expertise in SQL for querying and managing databases. Experienced in data warehousing and data modelling
  • Proficiency in Power BI
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, medallion lakehouse architecture.
  • Foundational understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, including predictive analytics and anomaly detection.
  • Experience using AI-enabled analytics features in tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI (Copilot), or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of data quality, governance, and responsible AI principles as they relate to analytics and reporting.
  • Knowledge of API, FME, Awesense Energy Data Model and ArcGIS Data would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of Utilities & sustainability requirements would be an asset
  • Understanding of project management methodologies, including agile
