The Opportunity
The Support Structure Technician provides technical support and service within the Engineering function. It involves analyzing and planning the replacement of utility infrastructure to ensure safe attachment for third-party partners. This role is customer facing and requires excellent customer service skills including the ability to converse with customers and deliver service that meets the customer expectations while ensuring the Company's operating and reliability standards are met.
Reporting to the Manager of Utility Services this role is responsible for:
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and plan the replacement of the company's distribution and transmission systems within third party applications. This activity also includes field assessments, completion of project estimates, procurement of materials, and the preparation of supporting documents (e.g. Job Sheets, etc.).
- Complete support structure design for 3rd party extensions and additional cable installations. This may include line relocation where line replacement isn't least cost.
- May be required to work with municipalities and government departments, including Crown Lands and Department of Transportation.
- Travel will be required (Driving within Newfoundland).
Your qualifications include:
- 5 years of experience in telecommunications design and/or installation
- A Degree or Diploma in a relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent inter-personal skills.
- Ability to manage third party relationships.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD would be considered as asset.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative.
