JOB PURPOSE

The Medical Laboratory Technologist 4 is responsible for supervising clinical and technical work for a discipline or service in a regional laboratory, or for managing a laboratory service in a facility other than a regional laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree or a graduate of a school of Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Must be registered with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science and licensed and in good standing (a practicing member) with the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists.
• Must have six years of related experience including supervisory experience.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Medical Laboratory Technologist 4 is responsible for:

• Managing the day-to-day operation of the laboratory discipline or service
• Managing resources to ensure the efficient operation of the discipline or service
• Providing clinical consultations and technical and scientific support to staff
• Monitoring quality control, troubleshooting problems and taking corrective action
• Developing, evaluating and implementing procedures and equipment
• Preparing, monitoring and reporting on budgets and performance indicators
• Performing routine and complex technical functions
