Reporting to the Senior Manager, Mass Stewardship & Engagement, the Senior Specialist, Donor & Market Insights drives the donor insights strategy for the Digital & Direct Marketing Team at the Canadian Red Cross. You will be primarily responsible for the design, collection, evaluation and maintenance of donor data to provide a deep understanding of what motivates donors to support the Society and how the Canadian Red Cross may increase a donor's lifetime value.

You must be able to marshal the best of quantitative analytics, paired with qualitative data, to glean insights that will help to optimize areas of inefficiency, points of confusion, or general donor pain points across all Digital & Direct Marketing channels. This role is key to generating the donor personas and segments and market research that will drive the revenue needed by the Red Cross to implement its mission in Canada and around the world. You will contribute at a strategic level to ensure the highest standards of donor insights and donor privacy and protection.

In this role, you will :

  • Conduct prospect and donor research, as well as internal and external market research for the Digital & Direct Marketing teams to help fundraising channels achieve revenue goals.
  • Maintain accurate donor and prospect data, monitor data integrity, and generate reporting and dashboards to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Monitor donor satisfaction KPI's such as NPS, CSAT, and User Effort, and assist in the design of a donor stewardship strategy for Digital & Direct Marketing teams.
  • Owns the annual donor survey, conducts research briefs and presentations, and proactively share insights and market trends with fundraising leads.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the donor experience team, channel leads in digital, direct mail, and sustainer marketing to ensure a growing and sustainable donor pipeline.
  • Test and learn new and innovative tools and methodology to achieve the highest standard in market research excellence.
  • Leads the moves management plan for identifying prospects for Major Gifts and Planned Giving Teams.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 6-9 years of progressive experience in philanthropy, stewardship, marketing or donor engagement and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in business, marketing, philanthropy, psychology or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience working with Qualtrics, HubSpot, or other similar platforms an asset.
  • Strong grasp of donor segmentation, digital and direct marketing channels, journey mapping and market research best practices.
  • Superior ability to clearly communicate research insights for non-researchers
  • Superior knowledge and practical experience on a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research techniques
  • Proficiency in data analysis, performance tracking and continuous program improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to synthesize research insights and influence.
  • Familiarity with donor engagement platforms and CRMs such as Salesforce, Blackbaud, or similar.
  • Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.

Working Conditions :

  • Requires significant attention to detail and concentration and ability to mentally process large amounts of information.
  • The work pace is often unpredictable with significant time pressures.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent and often urgent changes in priorities, and make decisions under pressure, work at an unpredictable pace.
