What will you do?
We want every point of contact with our RBC Wealth Management Advisors and Clients to feel important to them. That's where you come in. The Lead Digital Content Designer is a strategic and technical expert who leads the product team's efforts to understand client needs for information, providing expertise and thought leadership to senior stakeholders and design peers on using content to shape meaningful client interactions with RBC through digital products.
This individual contributor leverages advanced content design skills, domain fluency, and business acumen to identify opportunities for enhancing user experience and informing product and business strategy. They collaborate with cross-functional teams, define metrics and test outcomes, and make decisions on complex problems, ultimately influencing business outcomes and identifying new opportunities.
What you would work on
Content Design Strategy 30%
Directs and influences Content Design strategy, providing strategic advice and guiding Design peers to ensure craft excellence and consistency in content elements, while driving the development and application of Content Design principles and best practices.
Drives communication with stakeholders to synthesize complex data, identify client needs, and create actionable insights, including content research, messaging strategies, competitive audits, facilitation of workshops and ideation sessions to inform Content Design decisions and strategy.
Content Creation 50%
Co-creates research activities, including user test scripts and prototypes, and coordinating user testing of various artifacts to inform design decisions.
Leads the planning for complex Content Design projects, creates highly complex multilingual content, and develops non-textual content such as iconography and imagery to facilitate interaction and elicit emotion.
Manages overarching processes, governance, and sharing of content documentation throughout its lifecycle, liaises with internal teams to ensure RBC governance requirements are met, and oversees the end-to-end translation process with internal and external partners.
Oversees and creates Content Design standards to define consistent experiences across RBC products, ensures all content follows Accessibility and Inclusive Design principles, and performs Design standards audits to maintain high-quality content that meets client needs and regulatory requirements.
Leadership 20%
Advocates for the Content Design Practice within the Wealth Management Digital organization, building relationships with stakeholders and providing expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams.
Provides leadership and direction to the Design team on Content Design standards, tools, and processes, and offers coaching and guidance to junior team members to improve their capabilities and foster growth.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
BA/BS degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Information Studies, Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience in Digital Content Design
Technical understanding of Content Design theory and tools
Working knowledge of a variety of Content Design methodologies
Experience working on cross-functional teams
Nice to have
MA/MS degree or certification in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Information Studies, Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field
Appreciation for the potential of 'design thinking'
Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment
Experience contributing to the launch of a digital product
Experience with AI based applications
