We are searching for a Payroll & Benefits Junior Analyst to join our Payroll & Benefits team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This is a Temporary Full Time Opportunity for an approximate 1 year term.

About the Opportunity
The Payroll and Benefits team works with more than 50 separate Collective Agreements and Terms & Conditions of Employment. The role of the Analyst relies heavily on auditing for compliance and ensuring that the system is configured in alignment with these contractual requirements.
How you will do it:
- Completes all monthly, quarterly and annual scheduled audits for compensation and benefit programs.
- Executes process improvements using the six sigma guidelines; collaborates with other department stakeholders in developing, implementing and reviewing outcomes of process improvements.
- Responsible for oversight of the annual pension year end processes for all applicable pension providers
- Completes monthly remittances and required reports
- Keeps statistical data for benefits department
- Prepares reports and presentations related to benefit program performance
- Provides back up support for critical payroll and benefits processes as required
- Communicates audit results to management and/or employees and reviews processes for potential improvement to close gaps.
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent direct experience
- 3-5 years of experience in including both payroll & benefits
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel (required)
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve results and also work well independently
