About the Opportunity

This is a key technical leadership role for a Principal Software Architect who enjoys solving complex challenges and shaping long-term digital strategy. In this highly visible position, you will own and evolve the software architecture that supports our digital ecosystem, guiding the direction and prioritization of digital investments across the organization.

You will be hands-on leading critical architectural decisions and designing scalable, API-driven integrations and custom applications that power real-time, personalized digital experiences.

Your work will enable consumers, including the public, members, residents, and guests, to seamlessly access information, request services, make reservations, purchase tickets, book fitness classes, and engage with our digital platforms.

Working closely with our technical teams and business leaders, you will ensure our digital solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with business priorities and brand experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Own and evolve the overall software architecture, ensuring solutions meet current needs while supporting future growth.
  • Serve as a senior technical authority, providing architectural guidance across multiple initiatives and teams.
  • Partner with internal teams and technology vendors to evaluate, select, and integrate platforms and services.
  • Define and influence the digital and technical roadmap, informed by data, user research, and customer experience goals.
  • Assess emerging technologies and drive informed modernization and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Establish architectural standards and best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and secure solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with demonstrated ownership of complex system and solution architectures.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering cloud-native, scalable, and secure platforms in a modern digital environment.
  • Deep expertise in software architecture patterns, system integration, and end-to-end product delivery.
  • Strong hands-on background with modern development frameworks and cloud platforms (e.g., Java/React, AWS/GCP, relational databases, CI/CD, Git), with the ability to go deep where it matters.
  • Experience guiding large-scale digital transformation or modernization initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data integration, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accessibility, security, and high-quality digital experiences.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
