Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated digital writer and editor to create timely, accessible and engaging health and health-care content for the public.

Reporting to the Provincial Manager, Website and Digital Content, you will collaborate with clinical teams, communications colleagues, digital marketers, and designers to write, edit and publish content that supports patients, families and communities across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Guided by plain language, accessibility, and patient-centred best practices, you will bring a passion for digital storytelling and sharing impactful public health information. You will craft content that is clear, accurate and easy to understand, while also visually engaging, interactive and relevant to diverse audiences.

Our ideal candidate is a versatile writer who is technically savvy, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within a content management system (WordPress) to build and format pages, optimize layout, and ensure a seamless publishing process.

What you will do:

? Write, edit, and format public-facing content for the NL Health Services website, ensuring clarity, accuracy, consistency, transparency, timeliness and accessibility.
? Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to turn complex health and service information into understandable, engaging and audience-centred content.
? Build and maintain content in WordPress, including structuring pages, inserting media, formatting, and tagging, and crafting content that is visually engaging and easy to navigate.
? Apply plain language, health literacy, and web writing standards.
? Work with UX/IU and designers to provide content that is user-focused and visually aligned with site design, accessibility and organizational branding standards.
? Participate in content audits, reviews, and updates as part of an ongoing content lifecycle management process.
? Contribute to content style guides, editorial standards, and publishing best practices.
? Test and iterate when necessary, using analytics SEO considerations to inform strategies and recommendations.
? Stay current on trends in digital communications, health literacy, and accessible design.
? Leverage industry knowledge and maintain a keen understanding of different audience types to craft compelling copy that informs and generates action.
? Contribute to projects and initiatives to achieve NL Health Services? goals and priorities, enhance user experience, access to services and promote health and wellbeing among the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Job Qualifications
Education
Completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, information technology or health-related field supplemented by relevant work experience.
Membership and/or affiliation with professional may be an asset.

Experience
A minimum of three years? experience within the last five in digital content writing, editing or copywriting is required.
Excellent writing, editing, grammar and digital storytelling skills.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Expert digital writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of plain language, accessibility (WCAG), and health literacy principles.
Proficiency in WordPress for building and formatting engaging web pages, including use of page-building tools and basic SEO.
Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams, communicators, designers, and developers to translate complex information into clear, user-friendly content.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple content requests and publishing workflows in a fast-paced environment.
User-focused mindset with the ability to structure, organize, and present content for clarity, readability, and engagement.
Ability to function independently in a high pressure, diverse, and changing environment, often working around tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Superior communication (written, editorial, and oral) and interpersonal skills.
Excellent writing, editing, grammar and digital storytelling skills.
Strong attention to detail and meticulous.
Ability to build and maintain effective professional working relationships.
Demonstrate good judgment and posses an ability to build consensus among groups with conflicting priorities.
Self-motivated and possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
Knowledge and understanding of corporate communications and the health-care system is an asset.

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
Ability to work outside of regular working hours and to travel to other sites as required.
Hybrid work opportunities available. This position can be located anywhere in Newfoundland and Labrador and may be required to meet the requirements of a ?Work From Home? agreement.
