As the Lead UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping user experience strategy and ensuring digital products are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with business objectives. This role serves as a subject matter expert and coach for UX Designers, fostering collaboration and guiding best practices in usability, accessibility, and design. The Lead UX Designer partners with cross-functional teams-including product managers, developers, and content managers-to deliver exceptional user experiences and maintain consistent design standards across all platforms.

Salary Band: $75,200 - $122,200 - A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 at the time of this posting. (Individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, market conditions, relevant experience, education, training and internal equity).

Work Location: Office or Hybrid option working from either our Moncton or Halifax Office.

  • Onboarding/Probation: Full-time in-office for the first 6 months, based in Moncton, NB preferred.
  • After Probation: You can choose to either continue working full-time in the office or switch to a hybrid model, coming into the office 2-3 times a week.
Responsibilities

Coaching & Expertise

  • Produce flows, journeys, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for alc.ca & mobile apps.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to UX team members to build capability and support project success.
  • Allocate and prioritize UX tasks and maintain the Agile Scrum board, ensuring alignment with sprint goals and team capacity.
  • Monitor and track team velocity and delivery metrics to optimize workflow and improve predictability across sprints.
  • Drive the evolution and governance of the design system by establishing and maintaining a scalable, accessible, and developer-friendly system by setting standards, defining best practices, and partnering closely with the teams to ensure seamless integration and adoption across all products.
  • Lead and manage design critiques by sharing best practices, offering constructive feedback on design work, and acting as a resource for complex UX challenges. Promote an inclusive and collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous learning.

UX Strategy, Research & Reporting

  • Design and coordinate implementation of player experience initiatives, tools, and processes.
  • Lead user research, usability testing, and insights gathering to inform design decisions.
  • Maintain a central repository of player insights and UX documentation for team and stakeholder access.
  • Track and analyze UX KPIs and engagement metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to accessibility standards (WCAG) and champion accessibility across the organization by advocating for inclusive, user-centered design principles.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Perform UX assessments for projects and enhancements.
  • Communicate UX requirements-including accessibility and SEO-to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product managers to align UX strategies with product roadmaps.
  • Partner with developers and designers to ensure design fidelity and seamless implementation.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to processes, systems, and procedures.
  • Contribute to change management initiatives and drive innovation in UX practices.
  • Stay current with UX trends, tools, and best practices to maintain industry leadership.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in UX Design, User Research, or related fields, with demonstrated ability to coach and influence others.
  • Strong understanding of web accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG).
  • Prior experience in people management and team leadership.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older to apply.
  • Must reside in Atlantic Canada.

  • Proven ability to mentor UX talent and manage Agile workflows.
  • Expertise in user-centered design, accessibility standards, and UX research.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to energize, empower and engage team to deliver results.

Assets:

  • Experience in Adobe Experience Manager & Figma.
  • Degree or Diploma in UX Design, marketing, business, or associated field.
