Assistant Director of Finance (Full Time - 80hrs/bi-weekly)

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the overall financial management and planning of Windsor Elms Village. Working closely with the Director of Finance, this role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and alignment with regulatory and funding requirements. The ideal candidate brings a broad professional accounting perspective, combined with technical expertise and a collaborative spirit, contributing to our mission of providing exceptional care in a resident-centered environment.

Summary of Roles & Responsibilities (Full Job Description available upon request)

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across all departments.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide timely insights to leadership.
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and financial documentation.
  • Support the year-end audit and act as primary contact with external auditors.
  • Support & Oversee payroll & benefits, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
  • Manage cash and working capital planning & forecasting.
  • Management and oversight of an investment portfolio, in consultation with external wealth advisor.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to finance team members; act as backup to the Director of Finance.
  • Participate in organizational planning, strategic initiatives, and Eden-aligned projects that enhance home operations.
  • Report to Finance Committee, and to the Windsor Elms Village Board of Directors.
  • Manager on Call rotation.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
  • Current CPA or equivalent designation or actively working towards designation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic financial planning and managing month-end processes.
  • Experience working in Not-for-profit/charitable organizations/Long Term Care/ Health considered an asset.
  • Proven ability as a leader and as a collaborator.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must be a collaborative team player & possess a strong customer service orientation.
  • Highly proactive, with a demonstrated track record of developing innovative approaches.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and accounting software required.
