Benefits:
MacGillivray Law is seeking a Director of Workflow Engineering with deep technical capability and a strong analytical mindset. This is not a traditional legal-industry operations role. We run a data-driven practice, and we need someone who can design, refine, and scale operational systems with the help of software, automation, and performance analytics.
The Director of Workflow Engineering will oversee firmwide operational performance and will be responsible for building the next generation of our internal systems - including workflow automation, dashboards, metrics, and integrations between Filevine, Domo, and custom-built software.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with developers to design and implement custom software tools, automations, and Filevine add-ons
Identify inefficiencies and build scalable workflows that increase velocity, reduce friction, and drive measurable results
Oversee project management for all operational initiatives, including rollout, training, and change management
Build and refine SOPs across all functional teams for consistency and accountability
What We're Looking For
Strong technical competency - fluent in working with developers, APIs, automation tools, CRMs, and analytics platforms
Serious data literacy - can interpret metrics, build reporting logic, and create dashboards that drive behaviour
Experience running operations in a high-volume professional services environment (law, insurance, finance, medical, etc.)
Proven ability to manage complex projects and implement firmwide system changes
Ability to understand workflow friction and redesign processes from the ground up
Calm, structured problem-solver who makes decisions based on evidence, not instinct
Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to work closely with owners, lawyers, and staff
Comfortable in a fast-moving, demanding environment where expectations are high and ambiguity is common
Why This Role Matters
MacGillivray Law is scaling aggressively. We handle thousands of active files and 36 lawyers. Our next phase of growth requires an operations leader who can unify the firm's systems, build smarter workflows, and turn data into operational performance.
You'll be one of the key architects of how the firm functions over the next decade.
Compensation
Competitive salary + performance incentives, based on experience and leadership capability.
