Position Overview
The Executive Director (ED) is the senior leader of NBEC, responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, and province-wide Indigenous and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will guide NBEC's growth as an industry-driven catalyst for energy innovation, collaboration, and sector development.
Contract Term
This position is offered as a 12-month renewable contract. The Executive Director contract is expected to renew each year based on organizational performance, funding continuity, and mutual agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Cluster Growth
- Identify and advance strategic business opportunities for NBEC and its members.
- Enable formation of partnerships and consortiums to pursue major energy projects.
- Represent NBEC in discussions with industry, investors, and policy partners.
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Lead execution of NBEC's strategic plan.
- Support the Board of Directors in governance and organizational direction.
- Develop performance metrics, reporting structures, and accountability frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and operational requirements.
Indigenous & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Serve as NBEC's primary spokesperson in conferences, media, and public forums.
- Strengthen collaboration and connectivity across NBEC's membership.
Program Development & Management
- Design and lead programs supporting innovation, workforce development, and sector growth.
- Pursue grant, sponsorship, and partnership funding opportunities.
- Track program performance and alignment with NBEC goals.
Financial & Operational Management
- Develop and manage annual budgets.
- Grow diversified revenue streams (sponsorships, memberships, grants).
- Oversee contracts, vendors, operations, and staff/contractor roles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environment, Public Policy, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of senior leadership and/or business development experience.
- Strong understanding of energy technologies and policy frameworks.
- Proven record in partnership building, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Bilingual (English/French) preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000
- Eligibility for KPI-based performance bonuses
