Employer: Villa Acadienne Inc.Position: Accountant/Senior Accountant - Full-time
POSITION SCOPE:
Reporting to the Director of Finance and responsible for all aspects of general accounting and maintaining the general ledger while providing an oversight role to the other positions within the finance team. This position plays an integral role in the finance and administration department. Strong personable skills along with attention to detail are required. Duties will be performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures of Villa Acadienne Inc. Villa Acadienne is committed to resident safety, continued quality improvement, and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of daily bank reconciliations
- Approval of trust account reconciliations
- Assist in payroll processing
- Reconciliation of credit cards
- Posting and reconciling receivables
- Preparing updated capital projects list
- Preparing billings
- Reconciling intercompany accounts
- Performing quarterly HST Returns
- Supervising other clerk(s)
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Assisting in the yearend audit preparation
- Backup for the Director of Finance when not available
- Any other duties as assigned by Director of Finance
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an office setting
- Understanding of accounting principles
- Working knowledge of excel and other Microsoft Office software
- Good communication skills
- Use of accounting software
- Must be pleasant and courteous at all times
- Organizational skills and flexibility are essential
- Ability to prioritize work
The following will be considered assets:
- Any post-secondary education accounting certificates/diplomas
- Previous experience with Long Term Care / Health Care administration
- Experience with Xero
- Experience working with teams
- Enrollment or plan to enroll in the CPA program
