LEGAL ASSISTANT - ST. JOHN'S

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our St. John's team who will provide legal administrative support to our lawyers.
Working as part of a collaborative team, your primary responsibilities include:
- Accurate preparation of correspondence and legal documents;
- Processing large volumes of documents, with ability to use technology to store and organize emails and files diligently;
- Professional verbal and written communications with lawyers, clients and team members;
- Meeting deadlines, multi-tasking and prioritizing incoming requests;
- Establishing and maintaining a calendar and reminder system for multiple lawyers;
- Creating and maintaining a filing system; opening and closing files in a timely manner;
- Performing conflict searches, external searches, and processing client intake forms;
- Preparing statements of account and lawyer expense claims; and
- Other related administrative duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of an Office/Legal Administration program (or equivalent)
- 3 - 5 years' experience working as an Office Assistant. Preference will be given to those with related Legal Assistant experience;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required,
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative;
- Detail oriented, strong organizational and time management stills are essential.
Cox & Palmer provides a competitive compensation and benefits package including health, dental, life and disability insurance, and a group RRSP program. Schedule is Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm.
