NS ? 30 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $41.99 - $52.26 per hour

Additional $15/hr. for hours working in the locum position. Locums must agree to work a minimum of fourteen (14) days (75 hours a bi-weekly) for this benefit to apply. Other benefits in accordance with the RNUNL Collective Agreement.

About the Role

This is an advanced practice nursing role providing professional, person and family-centered, health services which include diagnosing, ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals and performing specific procedures within the legislated scope of practice. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide advanced nursing care including promoting health and well-being, preventing illness and injury, providing supportive care including palliation and treating illness and injury for residents in long term care, personal care homes, patients in acute care and clients in the community setting. The NP will work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams in long term care, personal care, acute care and community settings, to develop, lead, implement and evaluate best practice, policies, and standards of care and clinical services. The NP will assume a leadership role in influencing clinical practice and health outcomes, while collaborating with physicians, the broader healthcare team and community partners regarding complex and challenging resident/client care. The NP will ensure person and family centered care that wraps available resources around the individual wherever the individual resides. The NP will establish a preventative, integrated, person and family centered approach driven by individualized assessment of needs and individual choice to promote aging in place. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
  • Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
  • Successful completion of NRP, ACLS, PALS and TNCC.
  • Successful completion of CTAS.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check;

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

  • Organizing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for assigned clients;
  • Participates in the auditing process as required;
  • Documents as per professional and organizational standards;
  • Administers medication and participates in Medication Reconciliation;
  • Participates in the orientation, mentorship and preceptoring of staff;
  • Participates in quality assurance initiatives as requested/required;
  • Practice independently according to professional and organizational standards;
  • Acts as a liaison between the client and other healthcare providers;
  • May be required to complete escort duty.
  • On call/stand-by may be required;
  • Other related duties as required;
