WorkSafeNB is seeking to fill a two-year term contract position of Technical Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Support Services, your role will be instrumental in the management and deployment of IT hardware and software across WorkSafeNB as well as providing second-tier support within the IT Support Services group, actioning support issues escalated from the Tier 1 level. This role also participates in the proactive monitoring and remediation of network and infrastructure-related incidents and assists with project-related work and activities as assigned.
Your key areas of responsibility are as follows:
- Provide timely and accurate resolution of technical issues reported by WorkSafeNB.
- Responsible for timely and accurate distribution of IT equipment to WorkSafeNB employees, including all related preparation, configuration, and shipping of these assets. This includes the configuration and installation of standard IT software on new personal computers and fulfilling approved requests to install non-standard IT software on existing personal computers.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of computer networks, personal computers, client and server software, and communication systems and participates in the technical functions involved in their implementation.
- Assist with the optimization of departmental processes and those of the information technology service management by reviewing and analyzing activities within Support Services and recommending improvements to processes and procedures.

You, as a successful candidate, possess:
- A University degree in computer science, college diploma in Information Technology, or equivalent experience and certification(s).
- A minimum of five years of experience supporting end users with hardware and software issues.
- A minimum of three years experience with networking, telephony, Microsoft OS and software products, and cloud computing.
- A strong understanding of IT and its relationship with other business units.
Written and spoken competence in English is required.
This is a hybrid position, and the successful candidate will be asked to work at head office in Saint John regularly based on the schedule. Your primary workspace will be from your in-home office, with the expectation of in-person meetings, for that reason, working from outside the province or country is not permissible.
Pay Scale $71,687.77 to $84,338.85
Benefits for contract opportunities include vacation, sick time and the New Brunswick Public Service Pension Plan.
