We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team. We are currently looking to hire a Financial Analyst to join our Commercial Investments and Financial Planning & Analysis group. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, you will support Emera's consolidated budget and forecasting process, as well as system initiatives.

Responsibilities will include assisting the team with the coordination and management of the corporate financial planning process, the implementation and maintenance of financial reporting systems and providing accurate and timely reporting based on business needs.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Assist with the consolidation and reporting of Emera's quarterly forecasts, annual budget, and annual long-term forecast;
  • Prepare quantitative analysis to support our financial planning process, including variance analysis;
  • Assist with the preparation of presentation materials used to report Emera's forecasts, budget, and long-term forecast to the Board;
  • Support system administrator functions for our financial close, consolidation and planning software (OneStream), managing access, and providing technical support and troubleshooting for system users;
  • Support and train our finance groups on the capabilities of our financial reporting systems;
  • Implement best practices and assist with system and process improvements for corporate financial systems;
  • Other accounting, ad hoc, and special project responsibilities as assigned.

Who we are looking for:

As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:

  • A College/University degree in Business or Commerce combined with a minimum of 2-3 years' accounting and consolidation-focused work experience;
  • Previous experience with financial reporting systems is essential; you'll have to be comfortable creating and analyzing spreadsheets;
  • Knowledge of OneStream, Oracle Financial software or other Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management Systems would be considered an asset;
  • You demonstrate strong relationship and presentation skills as well as excellent multi-tasking abilities;
  • You are detail-oriented and possesses strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills;
  • You thrive in a fast paced, team-focused environment while working under tight deadlines;
  • As the successful candidate you also possess a strong business acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills and bring the ability to work with all levels of internal management and staff.
