McInnes Cooper is seeking a motivated and proactive Property Legal Assistant to join our team in our Halifax office. In this role, you will provide high-quality administrative and client support, helping to ensure our property clients receive exceptional service while contributing to a positive, engaged, and solutions-focused team environment.
As a Property Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Provide general administrative support within a team environment such as:
- Document preparation, calendar, statement of adjustments and file management providing exceptional client care, preparing couriers, and processing mail.
- Providing support with opening and closing files, assisting time entry administration; preparing accounting-related forms for submission; generating pre-bills and invoices; arranging to have documents served/filed; and submitting expenses for reimbursement using the firm's expense software.
- Being creative, sharing ideas, learning from others, and sharing your skills and knowledge; and,
- Challenging yourself and your team every day; and having fun while doing so!
The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:
- The ideal candidate will have a Legal Administration or Paralegal diploma; however, we recognize that historical and systemic barriers have shaped and limited access to traditional education, training, and employment pathways for many individuals, particularly those from marginalized communities. As such, we welcome applicants who bring a combination of skills, knowledge, and lived experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in an administrative role; experience working in the area of real estate law would be considered an asset.
- Exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and a genuine interest in keeping up to date with the newest technology.
- Excel in a demanding, fast-paced team environment, be highly organized & detail-oriented, and flexible to changing priorities.
- Exceptional communication skills, a special focus on client service, and the highest degree of professionalism; and,
- A positive attitude and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
