Jump Recruitment Specialists has partnered with ClearRisk in their search for a full-time permanent Legal & Privacy Operations Officer reporting to their St. John's, NL office. ClearRisk is seeking a highly organized, entrepreneurial and detail-oriented Legal & Privacy Operations Officer to own its contracting function and support its growing privacy and compliance needs. In this hybrid role, you will manage end-to-end contract workflows, coordinate with internal subject matter experts, support external legal counsel, and maintain the operational backbone of ClearRisk's privacy program.
This role is ideal for someone with paralegal, privacy operations, or legal ops experience who thrives in a SaaS environment and wants to directly influence ClearRisk's governance, security, customer trust, and operational excellence as we scale.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own and administer the full contracting lifecycle, including drafting routine agreements (NDAs, DPAs, customer amendments, vendor terms) using existing templates.
- Review contracts for accuracy, clarity, risk alignment, and consistency with ClearRisk's requirements.
- Maintain strict version control of all agreements, including ClearRisk's Online Terms of Service.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and vendors regarding contract administration, negotiations, document collection, and renewal coordination.
- Coordinate and prepare contract packages for review with external counsel as needed/if required.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Success, and leadership on contract status, obligations, and risks.
- Maintain a comprehensive contract repository with proper tagging, filing, metadata, and retention.
- Develop and manage a contract renewal schedule, including tracking customer lifecycle milestones.
- Ensure all required contractual documentation (SOWs, insurance certificates, DPAs, privacy notices, etc.) is collected and recorded.
- Support process improvements to streamline and scale ClearRisk's contracting function.
- Coordinate and maintain all privacy documentation, including policies, data maps, retention schedules, DPAs, and subprocessor records.
- Monitor relevant privacy and regulatory frameworks (PIPEDA, PHIPA, HIPAA, GDPR, relevant US state laws), identifying changes and contributing to policy updates.
- Support contract management with privacy-specific expertise, ensuring consistent data-handling clauses across templates and agreements.
- Assist with audit and evidence preparation for SOC 2, HIPAA assessments, customer questionnaires, and due diligence requests.
- Work closely with the Security Analyst on compliance tasks, including documentation gathering and vendor compliance tracking.
- Respond to customer and vendor privacy assessments, completing questionnaires and providing appropriate documentation.
- Serve as ClearRisk's privacy operations officer, liaising with external counsel on complex privacy or regulatory interpretations.
- Support internal privacy training and awareness initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership to strengthen governance, risk, and compliance processes as ClearRisk scales into new jurisdictions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Paralegal diploma, legal studies program, or a bachelor's degree in law with 3+ years of experience in paralegal work, legal operations, contract administration, or privacy compliance-ideally in a SaaS or technology environment.
- Additional education in privacy, compliance, or information management is an asset.
- Privacy certifications such as CIPP/C, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent.
- Paralegal licensing or accreditation (where applicable) is an asset.
- Willingness to obtain relevant privacy or compliance certifications within 12 months, if not already held.
- Experience drafting and reviewing routine agreements based on established templates (NDAs, DPAs, amendments, vendor terms).
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. privacy legislation (PIPEDA, PHIPA, HIPAA, state-level privacy laws) and exposure to GDPR.
- Experience supporting or coordinating compliance evidence for security audits (SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience working with contract management or workflow platforms (e.g., PandaDoc, DocuSign) and/or compliance tools (e.g., Vanta).
- Entrepreneurial by nature with a strong attention to detail, excellent document control, version management, and organizational practices.
- Ability to interpret and operationalize contract and privacy requirements with guidance from internal SMEs and external counsel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to manage multiple contract cycles, deadlines, and privacy tasks simultaneously.
- Process-driven mindset with a willingness to improve workflows and systems as ClearRisk scales.
