Job Summary
Applications are invited for Diagnostic Imaging Technologist positions with NLHS for various sites/departments.
Diagnostic Imaging Technologists perform responsible, technical diagnostic imaging services including producing diagnostic images which are interpreted by physicians and used in medical diagnosis. The successful candidate operates a variety of technical equipment to manipulate and annotate images, and may assist senior technologists and physicians in various and more complex diagnostic imaging procedures. Diagnostic Imaging Technologists are responsible for maintenance of equipment, quality control and practicing radiation safety measures. Successful candidates must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Job Demands

Constantly lifts, moves objects, repositions, pushes and pulls objects and transports patients to and from testing area, less than 10 lbs. between 10-30 lbs.
Push/pull up to medium forces. Constantly stands and walks for extended periods.
Regularly requires repetitive movements of upper extremities.
A high level of alertness and attentiveness is required when performing x-rays when patients are critically ill, infectious, unstable or compromised in order to obtain accurate images as quickly as possible, and ensure the patient's safety.
Job Qualifications:
- Graduation from High School with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
- Successful completion of a program approved by NLHS.
- Current and on-going certification with the licensing regulator.
- Successful completion of the selection process;
- Receipt of references deemed satisfactory by NL Health Services, in accordance with NL Health Services policy on reference checks;
- Documentation confirming successful completion of program of study;
- Completion of NL Health Services pre-placement documentation which includes, but may not be limited to, a criminal records check and vulnerability sector check deemed satisfactory by NL Health Services, completion of privacy training and a submitted Oath of Confidentiality, and completion of NL Health Services pre-placement health assessment; and other training as required prior to your start date or during your orientation period based on the requirements of the position.
*Effective May 1, 2025, all Medical Radiation Technologists and X - Ray Health Professionals will require registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP) in the appropriate discipline(s) in order to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador.
