Job Information and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Dean, Sobey School of Business and in consultation with the Strategic Steering Committee the Coordinator, Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects will:
- Coordinate strategic initiatives, outreach activities, and special projects supporting the goals and objectives the Sobey School of Business Strategic Plan.
- Coordinate a high-profile speaker series for the Sobey School, a student competition program, and high-impact community outreach events advancing the key strategic pillars of the strategic plan.
- Work directly with the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and help coordinate activities of the various sub-committees tasked with overseeing the strategic plan.
- Perform impact assessments on various activities and ensure that such activities achieve the desired outcomes pertaining to the goals and objectives of the strategic plan of the Sobey School of Business.
- Liaise with the External Affairs, Saint Mary's University, to support the stewardship of major external gifts and to ensure compliance with any associated gift agreements or partnership/sponsorship agreements.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders such as SMUSA, Business Societies, External Affairs, The David Sobey Retailing Centre, and the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre to develop a branded series of student events or competitions that will establish the Sobey School as a destination for top tier business student competitions in strategic areas such as entrepreneurship, work-integrated learning, and venture capital investing.
- Ensure compliance of activities and outcomes with any associated gift or partnership/sponsorship agreements.
- Work closely with the Office of Advancement, Saint Mary's University and contribute to the stewardship reporting for any associated donors or sponsors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Experience and Education Requirements
- To be the successful Coordinator, Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects you will have:
- A university or college degree or equivalent with a track record of project management and project coordination.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project management and project coordination.
- Fluency in English with the ability to write and organize reports, and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong public speaking and oral communication skills
- A dynamic, flexible, and team approach to work with moderate-to-high level of information technology literacy and technical know-how are essential.
- The ability to be collegial, punctual, reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
- The ability to be detail-oriented and thorough in completing work tasks.
- Ability to multi-task, work-collaboratively, and taking-initiative are key attributes of a successful candidate.
- Ability to explore alternative solutions, to adjust actions in relation to others' actions, and to have good problem-solving skills are required.
