Manager of Occupational Health & Safety
Status: Temporary
Hours of Work: 35 hours / week (Full-time)

Salary: HL-21 ($74,093 - $96,321)

As Manager of Occupational Health & Safety, you will join a provincial team of Occupational Health & Safety Managers committed to furthering NLSchools' goals for employee safety and wellness. Collectively the team will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of programs and services related to health & safety across the province. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources - Employee Safety and Wellness, the successful candidate will provide direction and support to staff in their region to ensure that all staff and worksites are compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety program, policies and legislation.
Duties:
- Providing guidance and support to staff on workplace safety and wellness;
- Managing and coordinating standardized safety initiatives;
- Managing risk assessments;
- Interpreting applicable legislation and collective agreements;
- Coordinating training programs;
- Overseeing OHS committee compliance;
- Conducting worksite visits;
- Disability Management;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the position of Manager of Occupational Health & Safety should have considerable knowledge and experience in the areas of occupational health and safety. They must possess strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and analytical skills, and the ability to operate in a strategic and dynamic environment. They must also demonstrate effective leadership skills while exercising considerable independence and initiative. These qualifications would normally be acquired through the completion of a relevant undergraduate degree supplemented by training/experience in occupational health and safety. Equivalencies may be considered.
This position requires some travel throughout the region. Use of a personal vehicle is required.
