The Senior Content Specialist is responsible for developing and managing content strategies that support and enhance the learning and product experience for users across digital and print platforms. This role focuses on content design and maintenance, user experience writing, and information architecture to ensure effective engagement and communication. The Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to align content with product goals, user needs, and organizational strategy.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain high-quality content for digital and print products, including interdependent educational and instructional materials.
  • Create content strategies that support content governance and operations, user experience and product engagement across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align content with product design, user research, and business goals.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, terminology, user journey, and messaging across all content formats.
  • Apply UX writing principles and information architecture to enhance content usability and accessibility.
  • Provide guidance and training on best practices in content design and development.
  • Advise on new content formats and contribute to content planning and management.
  • Establish and maintain internal content governance resources (i.e., templates, style guide, content design system, etc.) in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Develop various content deliverables including manuscripts, copy decks, storyboards, video scripts, transcripts, and presentation decks.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 6-9 years of experience in digital content design or development, UX writing, instructional design, or related fields.
  • University degree in digital communications, communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, media studies, or a related field; graduate diploma/degree or professional certification/designation is an asset.
  • Expertise in content design, product design, and user experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to tailor content to user needs and product goals.
  • Proficiency in digital content development and management tools and platforms.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative, user-centered solutions with stakeholder buy-in.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant software tools such as LMS and CMS.
  • Understanding of interconnections between processes and business units to provide effective leadership.
  • Persuasion and negotiation skills to promote complex and sensitive ideas, facilitate consensus and commitment in sensitive or controversial situations.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and usability requirements (AODA and WCAG) and inclusive content guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Press Style Guide and ability to flex rules to align with brand and content needs.
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Requires concentration, attention to detail, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Office-like setting with occasional travel to safe locations.
  • May involve interactions with dissatisfied clients and resolution of complex issues.
  • In large-scale emergencies, may be required to support disaster relief or emergency field operations.
