Talent Acquisition Consultant

Are you an experienced, results-driven Talent Acquisition Consultant looking to progress your career? We're looking for a Talent Acquisition Consultant to join our growing team. We are open to filling this position in our Fredericton NB, Clarington ON, Ottawa ON, or Halifax NS office.

At GEMTEC, we offer something different. We're an employee-owned, 400-person multidisciplinary consulting firm—not too big, not too small. We're large enough to compete head-to-head with publicly traded engineering giants, but still small enough to maintain the culture and flexibility of a close-knit team.

Our size and hands-on management style let us move quickly, embrace new opportunities, and empower our people to shape their own careers—without getting lost in corporate bureaucracy. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying, attracting, and securing top talent for our organization. Your expertise will help us build a diverse and talented workforce that aligns with our strategic goals.

You're an ideal candidate if you have:

  • Proven experience in talent acquisition or recruitment, preferably in a consulting or engineering environment.
  • A passion for building meaningful relationships and creating exceptional candidate experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop trust and credibility with hiring managers and leaders.
  • An understanding of workforce planning and can align recruitment strategies with business goals.

A typical day on the job might look like:

  • Collaborating with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and create tailored recruitment strategies.
  • Proactively recruiting engineers, scientists, technicians, and technologists specializing in GEMTEC service areas while building and maintaining pipelines for critical roles and other key personnel.
  • Reviewing resumes and conducting initial screening interviews focused on technical background, field experience, certifications, and project exposure relevant to GEMTEC's service areas.
  • Providing guidance on market conditions, candidate availability, and realistic recruitment timelines.
  • Creating recruitment content highlighting GEMTEC culture, project work, and growth opportunities, and utilizing various sourcing methods, including social media, networking, and job boards, to attract candidates.
  • Drafting and posting job ads; coordinating interviews; completing reference checks; preparing offer recommendations in coordination with our People & Culture Coordinator.
  • Representing GEMTEC at campus events, job fairs, and industry associations to promote careers in consulting engineering.
  • Tracking recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, pipeline activity, source effectiveness, critical role stats) and sharing insights with People & Culture and leadership.
  • Supporting diversity and inclusive hiring initiatives across all service lines.
  • Ensuring hiring practices align with GEMTEC policies, safety requirements, and employment legislation.
  • Adhering to all company policies.
  • Supporting other People & Culture projects as needed.

The good stuff you get:

  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Complete health & dental coverage including vision, paramedical services, and Teladoc
  • Retirement planning made easier with a 5% employer match on your contributions
  • Paid time off (vacation and sick days) plus Employee & Family Assistance Program when you need it
  • Office year-end closure (paid time off between Christmas and the New Year)

Your background and what you bring:

  • Five to eight years' experience in talent acquisition or recruitment, preferably in a consulting or engineering environment.
  • Valid driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle for work related travel
