NP35 (CAD52.31 - CAD64.92 per hour)

About the Role:
This position works within the Nurse Practitioner's (NP) scope of practice in the following category of practice: Adult or Family/All Ages. This is an advance practice role providing professional, analytical and an autonomous comprehensive range of health services to clients and patients including, but not limited to, health assessments and diagnosing diseases, disorders, injuries and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic model.

Utilizing the standards of excellence for Total Joint Replacement and Orthopedic Surgery, the Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the members of the interdisciplinary team, and Orthopedic Surgeons to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the surgical preoperative education and optimization program for patients awaiting orthopedic surgery. The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive education, evaluation and follow-up care to preoperative orthopedic surgery patients; will promote surgical optimization and preventative health care practices and assist patients and families in adapting to the required treatment and lifestyle changes.

Care to clients is delivered in an ambulatory outpatient setting. Client assessments may be completed in person or via virtual healthcare solutions. It will include individual assessments and delivery of service in group settings.
The roles and responsibilities in this position may expand in the future, within the scope of practice for a nurse practitioner.

Job Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and a current Nurse Practitioner license are required.
  • A minimum of five years recent clinical experience in the last seven in primary care or adult acute care is required. Demonstrated ability to function autonomously in an advanced practice role.
  • Possessed strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated progressive clinical leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in computer and database management skills.
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is a requirement for this position.
